We receive about 50% more requests than we can accept. The policy explains how we allocate places.
New members are received into the Beaver Colonies at the start of each school term. The earliest we invite a child to join is at the start of the term after their 6th birthday. In the term before a child reaches their 6th birthday, we will contact you by eMail offering a place and a date by which we need a reply. If you respond, your details are sent on to the Colony Leader who contacts you with information about the programme and detailed instructions about coming to the first meeting.
If we are unable to invite your child to join just after their 6th birthday we will keep their name and invite them as soon as a place becomes available.
Places in a our cub packs are allocated firstly to Beaver Scouts who have reached their 8th birthday. Beavers transfer to cubs at the start of each term. The same applies to the transfer between cubs and scouts
Occasionally, places become available during the term. We seek to fill these places as they become available, often inviting a child of similar age to the one who has left.
We always have places for the children of adults who are leaders. Being a leader is enjoyable as you will be part of a great team. If this is for you, please look at the page about volunteering
