Brief History of Scouting in Fulwood
Scouting in Fulwood first started on 10th October 1919 when the 114th Fulwood Church Troop was opened.

This closed in 1922 but less than 12 months later it reopened on 14th Feb 1923 with the number we have today, 142nd. This group lasted until 1931 when it closed for a few years before reopening again on 15 Jan 1934 under the guidance of a character known as 'Skipper' Allinson until 1937.

With World War II getting in the way of things shortly after that, it wasn't until 1948 until a group of leaders got together to create a team to reopen the 142nd, and on 24th January 1949 the group was formally registered as The 142nd Sheffield (Fulwood) Scout Group and has remained open ever since.

The Group Neckerchief is Grey with a Purple Stripe as seen above. It also has a Group Badge of three foxes.

Within Hallam District of Sheffield, the group has a Beaver Colony, a Cub Scout Pack and a Scout Troop.

We meet in our own Headquarters in the suburb of Fulwood at the western edge of the City. The Group is Sponsored by Christchurch Fulwood (Church of England) and membership is open to all.

E-Mail addresses for leaders and details of other relevant web sites can be found on the Directory page.

The group now has a facebook location. If you are, or have been a member of the 142nd then please join the virtual group and share your memories and pictures. By joining this group (just click on the logo to the left) you will be kept up to date with activities and events.
