This year two scouts have written reports of the
camp.
This is Tom's, and Lewis' can be found by using the link at the bottom of this
page.
Apart from the occasional correction of place names these reports are unedited
by me. I hope you enjoy the scout eye view!

Another, and sadly my last scout camp full of great memories - so here are the highlights in no specific order:
Swimming in Tarn Hows an activity designed to entertain. For any number of reasons from the god knows what that squidges unappealingly underfoot to the lets say refreshing water temperature and last but certainly not least the ice cream to chill you just a little more.
The overnight hike everyone’s favourite. Miles and miles of endless walking and the chance to get lost it always helps to be with people you like to make it more of fun affair. This year our patrol went its separate way. We were told to camp overnight on the way back in a wood somewhere. But we found we could easily get back to our original campsite on the first days walking .So we decided to push on. We were greeted with much joy. So the leaders sent us to sleep by then Tarn. Tips for the overnight hike. Don’t take a change of clothes you wont need them just take a coat. Also make sure you use the showers at the campsite they may be the only ones you get all week.
Other peoples annoying habits and ways, start off funny but by the end of the week they are just plain annoying. Snoring need i say anymore, Toby.
The canoeing was as good as ever the games are great fun but that may have been because our boat won some but they really do show you who can work in a team. Not many. Although it is harder paddling at the back but the people at the front just think you are being lazy. But give them a go and they soon agree. Jumping off the pier or being pushed/thrown was certainly funny and so were people’s faces as they fell in the water. Going out of the lake and up the stream was good fun especially when we tied Liam’s canoe to a tree. Finally while canoeing is the subject praise should be sung for Luke and his amazing leg, and being a good laugh.
The food as always had character be it Smokey, cold, raw, burnt or tasteless (Soya mince) but the burgers were really good. It certainly makes you appreciate what you have at home. But all good fun and you are doing on a wood fire which doesn’t ease matters. Scout camp is a great place to learn the art of cooking with as little as possible so as to have to wash up less or not washing up at all in some cases.
The penultimate day dawns and so the last night creeps forth for the annual tradition of sleeping in shelters. Love it or loath it, it has to be done. I always seem to be the one to have the worst position for whatever reason. This year because a torrent of water was cascading over my face all night so much for the tarpaulin covering the whole shelter.
Last but not least all those funny memories that are only funny if you were there.
