Scout Report

This is the report of the 2007 annual camp to Nantgwynant in Snowdonia, North Wales.

It is written by myself, Mike Halliwell, and obviously provides a leaders eye view. There is also a report from one of the scouts, which provides an interesting view from someone taking part rather than organising it.

A link at the foot of each page takes you to the next day, or you can navigate to any day using the links at the top of each page.

Saturday, Take 4: The Sunrise Experience

This year saw another return visit to our favoured site in North Wales. Known as the quarry it is a secluded site within the grounds of Llyndy Isaf farm, which is a couple of miles east of the village of Beddgelert in the Gwynant Valley.

Saturday was spent travelling to the site, having packed the trailer and vehicles the previous evening. The Scouts themselves being transported by various parents. Some of the Leaders managed to make the journey on the Friday evening to avoid the busy traffic with the trailer and managed to get the Marquee and some other tents pitched before the Scouts arrived during the early afternoon.

This year would be slightly different to the 'normal' programme as we would be taking part in the Centenary Scout Sunrise which would see us renew our promise along with 28 million other Scouts around the world.

The Patrols had been decided back in Sheffield and for the record the members of each being:-

Stags Bulls
Tom Shaw Robbie Mitchell - Williams
Toby Evans Sam Thompson
Will Lumb Luke Garmonsway
Lewis Taylor Tom Rafferty
Chris Rose Jack Lockwood

During the late afternoon and evening the Scouts found a suitable bend in the river running through the site to build a dam and construct a bit of a pool for jumping in.

The day ended with an overview of the programme of the week ahead, and the traditional Bog Wash - (Hot Chocolate to the uninitiated).
