Scout Report

Sunday, So where are we?

The morning was spent exploring the site and developing each patrol area, i.e. digging fire pits and constructing dining shelters. Each patrol is given an old dining shelter canvas with no poles and they have to find a suitable way of pitching them so that they can stay dry if the inevitable North Wales rain starts.

After lunch we ventured further a field with a short trek down the Gwynant valley to Beddgelert, passing Llynn Gwynant seen here looking rather inviting in the hot sunny weather, and the Sygun Copper Mine on the way. They looked pretty happy as they reached the bridge at the half way point as well.

Once in Beddgelert, the Scouts found their way to the ice cream shop and then found a deep part of the river in which a few of them decided to have a swim.

After the evening meal the lads decided to make a water slide into the river. They first made a dam in the river to create a pool into which they could slide. The result was quite amusing, especially for those who found out the hard way that sliding down head first resulted in a head first dive at the end.

In the marquee that evening we started to learn both the Scout Promise and the Scout Law, bearing in mind that this year was the Centenary and that on Wednesday morning we would be renewing our promise, which of course ends with 'keep the Scout Law'. Finally it was Bog wash and cake (provided by parents) time.
