142nd Troop Camp 2007 - North Wales
Home Sat Sun Mon Tue Wed Thu Fri Sat
The day started with a bit of shelter building, using natural materials. The main purpose of the exercise being that the Scouts normally sleep in them on the last night, weather permitting. So by starting on the Monday they have a head start and can complete their shelters throughout the week.
The main activity of the day however was an afternoon canoeing at Plas y brenin activity centre just over the pass near Capel Curig. With the benefit of their canoes and instructor the Scouts were able to enjoy something that they are normally unable to back home and for the first time at this centre the weather was sunny and hot.
After the evening meal, Dave made some Rhubarb Crumble in the camp oven which went down well with the Scouts, and then after a quick bit of Scout Law revision the evening finished with a wide game known as evasion, where the Scouts have to reach the flag pole without being seen. Unfortunately as this takes place in the dark it wasn't possible to take any pictures, however Robbie managed to get through without being seen.
