Scout Report

Wednesday, Expedition day

In many ways, the training we do each week would be wasted if the Scouts never had chance to put it into practice. Well today they get the chance to show that they really can pack a ruksac and read a map, and plan a route to another camp site a few miles away.

Each patrol spent the morning doing just that. And having planned a route that allowed them to answer a few questions along the way, and having packed their kit and tents away they had lunch and set off for the National Trust Camp Site in Great Langdale.

Each patrol seen here as they set off on their epic journey

Both patrols successfully made it to the National Trust site in good time and started to pitch their tents. Unfortunately the warden decided he didn't want them on the site without a leader - which is not part of the excercise, so they had to walk back down the valley to Baysbrown Farm at Chapel Stile where the farmer was more than happy for them to stay. Boo hiss for the National Trust.

By all accounts Baysbrown farm was better than the NT site anyway and the Scouts, in good sprirt, set up their trangia stoves and made their evening meal.
