142nd Troop Camp 2006 - Cumbria

The Scouts were up early on Sunday morning, such is the excitement of our camps, and we started the day with Flag Break and details of the week ahead.
The
morning was spent putting the final touches on the patrol sites and exploring
the immediate area, which is of course a long way from any other habitation or
neighbours. The most exciting feature for the Scouts was the Tarn at the bottom
of the site which proved to be a regular if not daily venue.
After Lunch we ventured a bit further with a short walk to Tarn Hows, a picturescue beauty spot frequented by hoards of tourists. A brave move for us leaders as we dared to introduce the Scouts into the public!. Spurred on by the promise of an ice cream van the Scouts made good progress and in the high temperatures made straight for the water. Here they can be seen making for an island in the tarn, from which they saw another island and swam to that, then back to shore. Apparently the water was quite warm.
After
their evening meal the Scouts spent a bit more time in the Tarn before relaxing
around the campfire and their regular evening paragraph or two from Scouting For
Boys.
