142nd Troop Camp 2004 - Cumbria

The morning dawned and the rain continued !. However there were still things that needed to be done in terms of creating a cosy environment that was to be called home for the next week.
This year, having discovered dining shelter canvas in the Hut, each Patrol was given a shelter and given the task of pitching it. Sounds simple but neither had poles?. So it was a case of finding the best method possible in the area they had chosen as their site. Both opted for the rope between two trees solution. The rest of the morning was taken up with finding the ideal place for the fire pits, puffin' billy, and of course the toilet tent.
Much to the delight of everyone the rain stopped and the sun
came out in time for our walk to Black Crag, just above the site.
From
here it is possible to
see
most of the familiar sights of the lake district, with Windermere to the South
East as seen here, The old Man of Coniston to the West, and the Langdale Pikes
and Helvelyn to the North.
With the sun shining it was a good opportunity to take a group photo. Click on it to see it full size (use the 'back' button to return to this page).
