Scout Report

The following pages contain a brief summary of the activities that we got up to during our annual camp this year.

It is written by the Troop Leader, Mike Halliwell, and obviously provides a leaders eye view. There is also a report from one of the scouts which describes things from his perspective.

A link at the foot of each page takes you to the next day, or you can navigate to any day using the links at the top of each page.

Day 1, Here we Go!

This year we returned to Cumbria, close to the site we visited back in 2002. This time our site being a secluded part of High Arnside Farm beside the Tarn of the same name. A fantastic site known as Stone Chair Hill, comprising of a few clearings amongst woodland and only accessible by Landrover (or the farmer's tractor). The panoramic view below gives an idea of what it looked like.

In our usual fashion, the parents shared the delivery of the Scouts on a day which started very warm and sunny in Sheffield. The journey however was to take nearly twice as long as expected due to repairs to a bridge on the M6 which caused lengthy tailbacks and delays. The advanced party of leaders was also delayed when Tony inadvertently put Petrol in his Diesel Landrover !!!, so we all arrived later than expected.

Our previous two camps have been in very wet weather and as we arrived and started to pitch our tents, you guessed it, it started to rain. Perhaps the Lake District was not such a good idea after all?

Despite the rain we managed to get most of the main tents pitched and identified suitable locations for the Patrols which this year were called 'The Smack Tards' and 'The Blang Thongs'. (It's never worth asking how these come about and this year was no exception)

And so the stage was set for another 142nd Fulwood Camp and some lasting memories.
