142nd Troop Camp 2003 - North Wales

The Scouts were obviously tired after their expedition and elected to have a late breakfast. However to celebrate the last full day of camp we opened the 2003 Nantgwynant Olympics.
First event was to make a champion 'Dutch Arrow' and to show skills in distance and accuracy. For reasons I still don't understand, I was used as a target for the accuracy competition! The pictures below show the various stages of construction and testing.
Before lunch was the 'chase Dave event', a lesser known Olympic sport but one which will no doubt become more popular as time goes by. Seen here setting off, Dave was allowed to disappear over the hill leaving directions of flour before the Scouts were let loose in pursuit.
Following lunch it was 'tossing the suitably sized log' which was partly an excuse to demolish a part constructed shelter started by the Wolves, and partly an excuse to move them down to the lake for some raft building later.
Congratulations to Donald for being the overall winner of the Nantgwynant Olympics 2003.
The remainder of the afternoon was spent playing on the lake with the raft and building bivouacs in which to spend the last night. Before that however a final camp fire enabled the Scouts to relax with a few jokes, stories, and a disappearing hanky trick from me.
