Tuesday: Dam that River

A fine start to the day and one to do some serious engineering in the river. Yes a few hundred yards up stream a curve in the river looked ideal for creating a decent sized swimming pool and so we started constructing a dam.

Seen here on the left in progress, and on the right as completed on day one.

The Dam made a pool deep enough for us all to get wet, and others cleaned!. The rain overnight however soon made the dam we made look a little tame and as you will see later in the week, an extension had to be made.

One of the highlights of this year's camp was the opportunity to take part in activities that we normally are unable to do back in Sheffield.

In the afternoon we met with a company called Summitreks, just a little further up the valley from this mornings Dam, for some Abseiling.

This company is registered with the AALA and provides adventurous activities for groups such as ours.
Seen here kited up and ready to drop!Unfortunately an extremely heavy thunderstorm shortly after this picture was taken delayed things a little, however the Abseiling experience was enjoyed by most.

More information about Summitreks, including a link to their web site, can be at the end of this report.
