142nd Troop Camp Report 2002 -

As in 2001, Monday sees the Camp attempt to climb a big hill. This year the chosen hill was 'The Old Man of Coniston' which has a peak of 803m.
With 15 people and only seats in the vehicles for 11, we split the group into two with the younger ones setting off first, pursued nearly one hour later by the older ones. The idea was for the older ones to catch the younger ones but as you might expect the advanced group were not going to let that happen.
Three of the pursuing group about to set of, with the summit of the Old Man of Coniston shrouded in cloud behind.
Managing to narrow the gap to 30 minutes we all managed to meet up at the top, only to find that the second group had been carrying all the food!!!. And as if on que, as we approached the cairne at the top, the cloud cleared to reveal a fantastic view of Coniston Water and the Irish Sea in the distance.
