Matthew Rafferty's Report

Saturday - We were told to arrive at the Scout Hut for about 9:30am to load up the trailers and this took about an hour and a half but we finally set off for Wales. It took just over 5 hours to get to where we needed to go. We put up the mess tent first and then each Patrol put up their tent and so after putting up our tents and digging our fire pits we had dinner and it was spaghetti bolognaise for tea and we got all the things ready for bed and we had some hot chocolate or bog wash as the leaders called it! and then we all headed off for bed.

Goodnight! Jeff, Peter, Tim, Ben

Sunday - We put the last touches to the campsite like putting up the loo tent!! and digging the pit for us to do the business in. All of our Patrol went off into the woods to collect wood for puffing billy and our own fire pits. In the afternoon we set off looking around the campsite to get to know the site better. By the time we got back to the site it was ready to cook dinner and we had burgers for tea and then had a big wide game after dinner and obviously Jeff's Patrol won and Mike tried to have a Joke by taking one of our eggs out and hiding it and then we had some bog wash and off to bed.

Goodnight: everybody!

Monday - We had cereal and eggy bread for breakfast. After clearing up after breakfast we made lunch and set off for a walk to Moel Hebog. We parked the Landrovers in a car park and set off up the steep climb up Moel Hebog. When we nearly got to the top we stopped for lunch. It took about 15 minutes to eat lunch then we started up again to reach the top. E finally did get to the top and it was very windy. Then we had a Scout Group photo taken at the viewpoint. We stayed at the top for a bit then we decided to go back down. Then we got back to the cars and went back for dinner and we had sausages for tea. We had a play around the campsite and by the time we had finished it was bedtime but we had some bogwash first then went to bed.

Scouts: Goodnight leaders!

Leaders: Yeah !

Tuesday - We woke up about 6:30am to start puffin billy and we had Cornflakes and sausages and baked beans. After clearing away the pots from breakfast we got ready to go down to the river for some raft building. Each Patrol had a raft, the teams were Jeff's Patrol against Toms Patrol. It took an hour and a half to build them while Mike and Jonathan went to get supplies from the shop. Finally we sailed the rafts and had races. Jeff's Patrol won one and Tom's Patrol won one and the third race was a draw but it was fun though. We walked back to the campsite for tea. We ran around the campsite. When we had finished we had some bogwash and then bed.

Wednesday - Morning!! We woke up and started the fire for puffin billy. Mike was the first one up and we started breakfast. We had sausages beans and eggs. After breakfast we organised ourselves for the overnight hike. We packed our bags and sleeping bags then we had lunch, which was a pasta soup. We finally set off to where we needed to go, we walked over 4 miles because our Patrol got lost but we finally got to the camp site and had tea and then we put up the tents and went to bed.

Thursday - We woke up about 8:30 am. We had breakfast which was Cornflakes then I had a nice refreshing shower then me and Donald packed our tent away and then we set off back to the home campsite. We got back to our home cam site at about 1:30pm had lunch and then set off to the beach. We stayed on the beach for about 2 hours and played cricket, swimming and baseball, and of course my team won. Me, Donald, Tim, Julian, David and Peter went back in the people carrier and everyone else went in the Landrover. We arrived home and started dinner. We all finished with bogwash then we finally went to bed.

Friday - We all woke up, for breakfast we had cereal and then quickly set off to go to white water rafting and I was in the first group to go down and it was very cold and bumpy but was fun. We went down twice. After doing that the other group went down and we got another shower and got changed. We went out and had lunch and set off at about 3pm for the campsite. We ran about collecting firewood and built a little bivouac each to sleep in and took some tents down. We ended up having a campfire and bogwash. We put lights out and went to sleep.

Saturday - We had breakfast and took the tents down and cleared the campsite. But my auntie came to pick me up to take me back to her house until Sunday. On the way back we stopped at Macdonald's but I really enjoyed Camp.

I give this camp 9/10,

But the only bad thing was the toilets plus there wasn't any showers but we survived.
