142nd Troop Camp Report 2001 - North Wales

An early start for some as they had to make the one hour journey to Bala and the Whitewater Rafting centre, where we were to spend most of the day.
Each Patrol had two descents of the river which took approximately 15 minutes each and was entirely organised by the centre. Everyone had to wear suitable wet suits and buoyancy aids, and full safety training was given before the raft went near the water.

This
is one of the Patrols near the end of their descent which
as you might expect resulted in some very wet Scouts. This was a very popular event that was enjoyed by all |
After lunch at the Rafting Centre we returned to the Camp Site and started the dreaded packing process.
With the tents dry and a good forecast, both Patrol Tents were taken down and packed away, and the Scouts built shelters (Bivouacs to most of us) ready for the last nights sleep.
After the evening meal we finished the camp with a camp fire, a new experience for most. However a lot of fun was had around the fire with some sketches and joke telling the preferred option.
